Updates and privacy
Updates
Hedgerow asks before it checks for updates. If you choose Yes, check daily, it checks for a new version once a day. When one is ready, Hedgerow's Home page shows Update now, Later and Skip this version. Before an update installs, Hedgerow checks its size, its checksum and its Cairnea LLC signature. Your zones, snapshots and settings are kept.
Turn checks on or off on the Settings page with Check for updates once a day, then choose Apply. When checks are on, choose Check now to check at once.
What is sent
The update check asks downloads.cairnea.com for one small file. The request carries only the Hedgerow version, plus what every web request carries, such as your internet address. There is no account, no ID and no cookie, and nothing about you, your files or your desktop. If you choose Update now, the new version is downloaded from the same place.
Where your data lives
Your zones, snapshots, settings and logs stay on this PC in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hedgerow. When you uninstall Hedgerow, it asks whether to remove them; it keeps them unless you say yes. Read the privacy policy online.
